Lectors proclaim the Word of God at Masses and other liturgical celebrations. In preparation for reading, the Lector has an opportunity to pray with the reading so that he/she can better proclaim it to the congregation. The ministry of lector is a wonderful way to share one's faith by sharing the Word of God with others.
Typically, the Lector is assigned to serve for one month and is 'off' on the other. The Lector also serves by reading the introduction to the mass, the Prayers of the Faithful, and the announcements at the end of mass.
If you are interested in learning more about becoming a lector at Immaculate Conception Church please contact Fr. Steve Rosera.

It is a privilege to be able to bring Jesus Himself to those unable to come to church on their own. “For I was hungry, and you gave me food, I was thirsty, and you gave me drink”. Matthew 23:35-40. The Bread and Blessings ministry has been living St Matthew’s gospel for almost thirteen years. Welcoming each guest to our community table to enjoy a warm homemade meal in a safe and loving environment. With the outbreak of the Covid 19 pandemic we had to come up with a safe way to get a nutritious meal to our guests. Hence the beginning of the Grab and Go Sack lunch solution. Each Sunday families from the various parishes in Albuquerque provide 150-200 sack lunches and bottled water for pickup. The compassion and generosity of these families is priceless, this ministry could not exist without them. The lunches are distributed till 2:00 PM from our parish basement hall located on the South side of our campus.
Anyone interested in providing lunches, bottled water, or hygiene items please contact Roberta Montoya, coordinator, at the parish office (505) 247-4271.
The Society of St Vincent De Paul (SVDP) is an international lay organization that provides assistance without regard to religious affiliation and seeks to address the causes of poverty and injustice. The Immaculate Conception Parish's SVDP Conference helps to serve those in need who live within the Immaculate Conception boundaries.
The mission of SVDP is to grow its members' spirituality and faith through personal contact with our community and be of service to those in need. This service to our neighbors includes home visits performed by two volunteers and we offer utility, rent, food, clothing and furniture assistance. We welcome anyone who would like to join us in serving our brothers and sisters in need. Our Conference meets once a month and attends one mass a month together. Please contact Ben Snow (email - bsnow44box@gmail.com) if you are interested in volunteering or if you have questions.

The purpose of the parish pastoral council, as described in Canon 536, is the "fostering" of "pastoral activity" in the parish. The 1997 Instruction on Certain Questions Regarding the Collaboration of the Non-Ordained Faithful in the Sacred Ministry of Priest states that, "It is for the Parish Priest to preside at parochial councils.
According to The Priest, Pastor and Leader of the Parish Community, the 2002 Instruction of the Sacred Congregation for the Clergy, "The basic task of such a council is to serve, at institutional level, the orderly collaboration of the faithful in the development of pastoral activity which is proper to priests. The pastoral council is thus a consultative organ in which the faithful, expressing their baptismal responsibility, can assist the parish priest, who presides at the council, by offering their advice on pastoral matters. The lay faithful ought to be ever more convinced of the special meaning that their commitment to the apostolate takes on in their parish; hence it is necessary to have a more convinced, extensive and decided appreciation for 'Parish Pastoral Councils'. There are clear reasons for such: In the present circumstances the lay faithful have the ability to do very much and, therefore, ought to do very much towards the growth of an authentic ecclesial communion in their parishes."
If you are interested in serving on the Pastoral Council please contact Fr. Steve.
