Archbishop John C. Wester Announces

Revised Protocols for COVID-19 Pandemic

Effective August 23, 2022

Current Liturgical Restrictions

Masks are optional in church.

Eucharistic ministers may wear a mask while distributing Holy Communion. It’s recommended that they sanitize their hands just prior to distribution.

The Sunday Mass obligation is reinstated. General absolution may only be used in situations canonically allowed. Masks are recommended while ministering to the sick.

Continuation of live-stream Masses is at pastors’ discretion.

Parents have the option to have their children wear masks in all venues, as do teachers and staff.

While there is a definite reduction in the number of COVID-19 cases, all are strongly encouraged to observe protocols that reduce the possibility of infection.

Other Non-Religious Education Gatherings

Masks: Optional.

Social distancing: Encouraged.

Sanitizing shared surfaces: Recommended.

  • Office/parish staff: Recommend vaccination or weekly testing.
