Immaculate Conception Parish Synod Information

Pope Francis has invited all Catholics, both in the mainstream of church life and on the margins to express their dreams, ideas and concerns in preparation for the 2023 Synod of Bishops in Rome. Pope Francis would like us to help shape a new way for the future of the Roman Catholic Church.

Initially ICC provided a survey for you to complete anonymously either electronically or hard copy. Using your feedback, we have hosted listening sessions at different times for members of the parish to provide the local synod leadership team with feedback on any aspect of the local Church (our parish and the archdiocese) or more broadly throughout the world.

Summaries of all the listening sessions within the Santa Fe Archdiocese were compiled and merged and sent to the US Conference of Catholic Bishops where that groupconducted its own listening sessions. This roll-up of feedbackhappened around the world, with information from every diocese in the world being sent to the Vatican in preparation for the 2023 Worldwide Synod occuring this month.

Prayer for the Synod: Adsumus Sancte Spiritus

Every session of the Second Vatican Council began with the prayer Adsumus Sancte Spiritus, the first word of the original Latin, meaning, “We stand before You, Holy Spirit.” As we embrace this Synodal Process, the following prayer invites the Holy Spirit to be at work in us so that we may be a community and a people of grace.

We stand before You, Holy Spirit,

as we gather together in Your name.

With You alone to guide us,

make Yourself at home in our hearts;

Teach us the way we must go

and how we are to pursue it.

We are weak and sinful;

do not let us promote disorder.

Do not let ignorance lead us down the wrong path

nor partiality influence our actions.

Let us find in You our unity

so that we may journey together to eternal life

and not stray from the way of truth

and what is right.

All this we ask of You,

who are at work in every place and time,

in the communion of the Father and the Son,

forever and ever. Amen.

Oración por el Sínodo

Cada sesión del Concilio Vaticano II comenzó con la oración Adsumus Sancte Spiritus, las primeras palabras del original latino que significan: "Estamos ante ti, Espíritu Santo." Al ser llamados a abrazar este camino sinodal del Sínodo 2021-2023, esta oración invita al Espíritu Santo a actuar en nosotros para que seamos una comunidad y un pueblo de gracia.

Estamos ante ti, Espíritu Santo,

reunidos en tu nombre.

Tú que eres nuestro verdadero consejero:

ven a nosotros, apóyanos,

entra en nuestros corazones.

Enséñanos el camino,

muéstranos cómo alcanzar la meta.

Impide que perdamos

el rumbo como personas

débiles y pecadoras.

No permitas que

la ignorancia nos lleve por falsos caminos.
